Back text

The ground beneath my feet is disappearing, is dad going to die? He's so young, it wasn't cancer. It happens to others, not us.

"Department 7 - A Cancer Journey from a Daughter's Point of View" is a true story about the author's father's cancer and illness. It is a diary-style story about grief, about a tangle of emotions in a close relative, and about how the brain creates alternative paths to avoid facing reality.

Eva Sepp Berg is the author of Department 7 and founder and owner of Villarudskogen Interiör.

Background

November 11, 2018 was Father's Day. It was also the day my Dad died at only 60 years old.

His death took me into a darkness I didn't know existed, a darkness I couldn't get out of. The only break from the grip of grief I got was when I wrote about what had happened. The very day after his passing, I started the story of his passing and for a month and a half I wrote every free moment until midnight. It wasn't intended to be read by anyone, maybe by my family, but that's where it would stop.

I wrote about all the feelings, all the worries, and all the events during the illness, my reality in the unreality. The writing eventually resulted in a book. A book about cancer, grief, emotions, and a hope that never fails. A tragic tribute to my Dad.

Section 7, a cancer journey from a daughter's point of view, was published in December 2022 by Lava Förlag.

Department 7 is available for purchase wherever books and audiobooks are available. Here in the webshop or in the physical store in Forshaga, it is available for purchase signed and sent directly by me.

Reviews:

“5/5

This is a true story about a cancer journey from a daughter's point of view. In the book, I, as a reader, get to follow the author's feelings about how she experiences her father getting cancer, his illness, and the time when he is no longer there.

Even though I cried my way through large parts, I couldn't stop reading. So beautifully written and very easy to relate to the situations in the book. Worth reading for everyone!”

This will be a strong, moving and touching read. The book is written in diary form so it is easy to read and can be read quickly even though it is a heavy subject to read about. It is a personal book about Eva's journey with her thoughts and feelings, it feels open and honest for me as a reader to enter her world and be part of this. It is so beautifully written and Thank you Eva for inviting me as a reader into your process, thoughts, feelings and sorrow "
